Gout Recovered by TCM Acupuncture, TCM Medicine

Gout Recovered by TCM Acupuncture, TCM Medicine

Gout 通风 is a medical condition usually characterized by recurrent attacks of acute inflammatory arthritis – a red, tender, hot and swollen joint. The metatarsal-phalangeal joint at the base of the big toe is the most commonly affected. Sometimes, heels, fingers and elbows can be affected too.

Many patients who suffer gout come for acupuncture. They said that after acupuncture, gout seems to subside faster and less painful. I have patients who come everyday (consecutively for three days) for acupuncture treatment and the gout subsided totally.

As many patients are not willing to do acupuncture as gout itself is very painful. For these patients, we give them herbal plastering and anti-inflammation medication.

I always advise them not to take nuts, beans, animal organs (such as liver, pig heart etc) and alcohol.
