Vertigo, Giddiness, Vomitting 眩晕,呕吐

Vertigo is very common, many people especially those in their middle-age will experience this at least once in their life time.  Vertigo is usually not serious but it may drag to many days or even months. You may not be able to do everyday tasks such as cooking and household chores. Any movement and changing direction of your head may trigger spinning. Simple things like picking up things from the floor might also cause dizziness. Whenever you raise up from your bed or when you need to lay down on your bed, you will experience a spinning sensation and feel as if the ceiling or your room is moving. At the same time, you may also feel nauseous and feel like throwing out but there is nothing coming out from your throat. Some of you may find that there is an increase in number of times you urinate at night and your stool may tend to be soft and diarrhea-like. Some of you may find it difficult to keep your balance while walking. For serious cases some may experience ringing in the ears or headaches. Vertigo is unlike some dizziness that is marked by simple light-headedness or weakness.

The cause of vertigo could be the result of tiny crystal particles in the inner ear canal. It is often associated with age. TCM attributes dizziness/vertigo to not having enough blood supplying to the brain (供血不足于脑部) and also the coldness of stomach (肠胃虚寒).

Western doctor usually prescribed anti-dizziness to patients and advise not to drive during these period. Specialists may treat them by manoeuvring the position of their head to balance the crystal particles in the inner ear canal.

Our team of TCM physicians finds by prescribing herbal medicine to nourish the brain and strengthen the stomach together with acupuncture help in the treatment of vertigo. Patients feel less light-headedness and their diarrhea stop after the acupuncture treatment. They can recover from vertigo in a shorter time, some could recover in three days.
