Very often when their legs were swollen, they would
apply oilment and massage their legs themselves. Sometimes the injured parts
may become worse and get more
swollen. When these people come, our TCM physicians will first do a little massage or acupuncture on them and
then give them herbal plastering and “Tie Da 铁打” TCM medicine. Our TCM physicians will inform them that the herbal plastering can be taken off after 3
hours. Normally, if they do not have fracture or torn ligament, it takes
about three sessions (about three days) to get well. Upon examination, if our TM physician suspect that there is bone fracture, I will refer them to hospital and advise

For those who have a fracture and a casting has been done on them, we can give them some “Tie Da 铁打” TCM medicine which can help the bone to heal faster. And when the casting is taken off, the injured part of the limbs can be very stiff, so we can give them one or two sessions of massage or acupuncture and herbal plastering to help them recover faster.
A man, age 40, came to see our TCM physician, he told us that he was hit by a motorcycle on his leg. His leg had been swollen
very badly. It swelled like an elephant leg. After one month of treatment from
the hospital, he still felt pain on his leg when he walked. He was introduced by
his friend to see us. Our TCM physician treated him with TCM acupuncture, TCM herbal plastering and TCM herbal medicine (跌打药). He could walk better after

I have one female patient, age 55, who came to see me last year. Her right knee was swollen. She told me that she is a aircraft cabin cleaner. She had to climb staircases to the aircraft cabin every day at least 20 times. As a result, her knee was swollen. She could not work because she could not climb the staircases with her swollen leg. She sought acupuncture treatment from me. I gave her acupuncture treatment, herbal plastering and Chinese herbal medicine. She came almost every day for the treatment as she wanted to get well fast, so that she can get back to work earlier. She got well after eight treatments.
