Have you heard of massage for infertility?
Patients who can succeed in IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) or IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) are not likely to look for TCM physicians. However, couples who failed in their attempts to conceive through IVF, would come to us for acupuncture. They wanted to enhance their chances of success. They are many couples who came for Chinese herbal medicine hoping to be able to have babies.
I have patients who are advised to go for D & C procedure* because their fetuses were not able to implant on the lining of uterus. So, by scrapping the lining of uterus, their fetus would be able to implant when the new uterine lining grows again. However, after the D&C, they still could not succeed in pregnancy.
From TCM point of view, we feel that it is the whole environment in the abdomen which is not healthy enough and therefore the fetus cannot be implanted.
We would advise patients:
1) to take Chinese herbal medicine to strengthen uterus;
2) to do acupuncture on the lower abdomen area;
3) to do massage to enhance circulation at the abdomen area.
We observe that the above helps in the success of having babies.
We now have physicians to help in infertility acupuncture/abdominal massage as well as irregular menses. Our physicians have been to China to understudy/learn in this area.
