TCM Treatment Cures Shingles, NO BURNING IS REQUIRED, Postherpetic Neuralgia 生蛇 TCM Singapore Recommended TCM
For the treatment of shingles (we called it 带状疱疹或缠腰疹或生蛇), many TCM physicians in Singapore like to administer the technique of burning of the shingles lesions especially the so-called shingles heads.
Our clinic do not need to do any burning of the skin as it is not necessary. We believes that besides viral infections, there is inner heat too. TCM Medicine we prescribe is used to expel the inner heat and toxin in the body. Thus, most of my patients were given TCM anti-toxic oral herbal medicine and herbal plastering. They can get well within 5 to 7 days depends on the how big the affected area are and the seriousness of the shingles.
There is a kind of shingles which is called post-hepatic neuralgia (带状疱疹后遗症) where people have recovered from shingles but the pain still lingering for many months, sometimes prolong more than years. Usually, these type of pain comes at night and it has excruciating pain. Fortunately, we can also treat this type of post-hepatic neuralgia shingles. Depends on its shingles duration and the patients age, it takes a little big longer time, may be 10 to 14 days.

An elderly lady, age 82, came with 5 other members of her family to see me for her shingles. All them including the daughters and sons looked very anxious. They did not know what the mother was suffering from. The patient complained of pain at her lower body, her buttock and her private part. She said that those areas were very painful and itchy. She could not sit down. I looked at the affected areas. The skin was reddish and there were a lot of shingles with pus spread over a big area. They told me that the shingles erupted very fast within only a few days. I told them to buy her a swimming float for her to sit as the shingles were all around her lower body. They told me that they had already bought a car tyre to let her sit as she is very big and heavy.
I prescribed some TCM herbal medicine for her to wash the shingles and to apply externally. I also prescribed two weeks of oral TCM medicine(powder type, no need to brew). After two weeks, the daughter came to tell me that the mother got well and had no more pain and itch.

A middle-age man, he looked a very strong and healthy person came to consult us for his shingles. His shingles were so painful that he could not go to work. In his case, after 5 days, he got well too. In his case, he recovered very fast from shingles, presumably he was young and healthy who had no hypertension and diabetes.

One woman, age 31, had shingles on her waist. She felt itchy and painful. Her condition was not so bad as it just started on the waist and she soon realized it was shingles. She came to see me and I prescribed TCM herbal medicine (powder form, no need to brew) for her to take and some herbal medicine to wash the shingles lesions and herbal plastering to paste on the shingles. Her shingles got well about 5 days later.
A 65 year-old Chinese man came to see me for his shingles. He had shingles on his chest and his back. Initially, he did not realize that the skin rash was shingles. According to him, the shingles spread very fast. Within 2~3 days he realized that the rash at his back was reddish and itchy. He could not sleep well at night as it was itchy and painful. I treated him with TCM medication and herbal plastering. He came to me every day for the first three days for herbal plastering (our TCM clinic do not need to burn the skin as it was not necessary). Within 10 days the shingles healed and the itchiness was gone.
Most shingles cases start from the waist, but seldom from the face. His shingles was a very rare case. I prescribed herbal medicine for him to apply and also some oral medicine (powder type, no need to brew) to take for two weeks. Although the shingles looked quite serious and frightening outwardly, his condition got well quite quickly. He said that the pain and itch reduced in intensity and after one week the shingles subsided.

A young man, age 23, came to see me for his singles. He had shingles on the left waist. He did not know what happened to him. He observed that the rashes spread very fast and over a bigger area. Within a few days, his shingles became very red and itchy.
I prescribed for him oral Chinese herbs (powder type, no need to brew) and herbal plastering. The herbs are to expel toxins and reduce the redness and pus in the shingles. His case was more serious and it took him 16 days to fully recover. During those 16 days, he could still go to work and did not feel too itchy.

Shingles on the Hand
A man, age 65, came to see me one day. He showed me his hand and said that he did not know what happened to his left hand and it was very painful and itchy.
I looked at his left hand which was swollen and there were big blisters and pus on it. It is indeed very rare to have shingles on the hand. I treated him with Chinese medicine and plasters. It was healed in 8 days. The swell subsided and the hand appeared normal again.
Note : the swelling had subsided too.

After a few treatments (about 4 days) from me, she said that the uncomfortable feelings were better and her eye vision was clear again. Her shingles got well after 8 days.
There were a few cases of shingles which grew around the eye (usually on one side of the eyes), vision was slightly blurred during the onset of shingles. When the shingles get well, the vision become clear again. So, do not worry if you have shingles on or around the eyes area.
